World of Persian Carpet

Carpet is known as one of the most ancient and important handicraft of Iran, which is closely related to the life, believes and culture of Iranians. The short term course of the World of Persian Carpet is going to be held in the four cities of Tehran, Qom, Kashan and Isfahan. The course is an opportunity to know about the history of carpet weaving, various types, different styles of carpet design, the role of carpet in the life of Iranians, semiotic study of design and the status of carpet patterns in Islamic-Iranian spirituality and thought. During the ten-day course, the participants are going to visit the best works of art, the most important carpet looms and traditional carpet bazaars.
The main programs are as following: holding theoretical and practical lessons, presenting various essays about carpet, visiting museums and carpet masterpieces in Iran, getting familiar with social and traditional culture of Iran through participating in religious festivals, performing Iranian traditional music, theater and movies.
